ONSL welcomes the Wake Forest FUNGO

by Ashton Confer

RAMSEUR, NORTH CAROLINA – The Old North State League (ONSL) welcomes yet another team this off-season, the Wake Forest FUNGO. The FUNGO are no stranger to a few of the teams already playing in the league, and the ONSL looks forward to watching the rivalries continue in Summer 2024 and beyond.

The Commissioner of the ONSL, Eric Sibrizzi, expressed his excitement on the new addition to the ONSL. FUNGO owner, Joe John, described his decision, “After going independent for a season, we are thrilled to join the Old North State League. We wanted to find a competitive league that values player experience as much as FUNGO always has. This is an exciting time for FUNGO fans with the major upgrades at Flaherty Park combined with FUNGO joining the ONSL, which will bring highly talented teams to Wake Forest from towns in the Mountain, Piedmont, and Coastal regions of North Carolina (including local rivals from Raleigh, Clayton, Reidsville, and Sanford).”

The mission statement for the FUNGO closely aligns with our goal in the ONSL, to bring the community together through the love of baseball. If you would like to catch a game next summer, the FUNGO play their home games at the newly renovated Flaherty Park, located at 1226 North White Street in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
