:::For Immediate Release:::

North Carolina Based Entrepreneurs Acquire the High Point Hushpuppies of the Old North State Baseball League.

(Ramseur, NC) The Old North State Baseball League (ONSL) announces the sale of one of its original teams to North Carolina entrepreneurs.

The High Point Hushpuppies based in High Point, NC, has been purchased by Dr. Nic and Kaylin Sturdifen. The Sturdifens are entrepreneurs with multiple companies and are most known for their roles as president and vice president of Life Push, LLC, a multi-tiered human services company headquartered in Danville, Virginia with offices in other regions of the state. They have called the Piedmont Triad area home for the past eleven years.

Nic was a former collegiate football athlete at Averett University, who played multiple sports throughout his youth. His wife, Kaylin, was a cheerleader at Averett University and later, became the head coach of the university's cheerleading team. They have both  demonstrated their firm belief of the value provided to athletes through team sports. Nic stated, ”Not only is baseball a dynamic team sport, it is an international staple in the world of sports with rich tradition. We couldn't think of a better way to enhance that value to players and this community at large than to be the owners of a team that continues to provide that value.”

Nic continued, “My wife and I were driven to purchase this team by the opportunity to utilize both our sports background and previous business success to impact the lives of the players while providing a new level of value to the city of High Point and the Piedmont Triad community as a whole. This is our region. This is home. We want to provide something that will revolutionize the value of baseball for players and everyone in this community. There has already been a tradition of competing at a high level established in this franchise. It brings great comfort to have such a seasoned staff already in place with an experienced and well respected coach in Rob Shore. The framework for success is already in place which helped make this an easy decision”.

The ONSL High Point Hushpuppies were originally known as Guilford Lumberkings back in 2020 and rebranded in 2021 as the Hushpuppies. The ONSL season runs from May to July. The Hushpuppies play at Ed Price Field located at the High Point Sports Complex located at 2920 School Park Road. The Old North State League consists of fifteen collegiate baseball teams in locations from the Appalachian Mountains to the Atlantic Coast.

President and CEO of the Old North State League, Alec Allred, explained the team transaction, "We believe very strongly that the ultimate success of the league is dependent on the private ownership of every team in the league. This will lead to bigger crowd sizes, more community support, and bigger media content deals. It has long been our goal to be a league free to all players and I believe this helps us get there in the future!" He added, "The entire Old North State League is incredibly happy to welcome Nic Sturdifen and his family to the League. After many conversations with Nic, I have absolutely no doubt that the Hushpuppies are going to continue to be a highly successful organization in the ONSL. Nic has an extensive background as a business leader, and entrepreneur that will help guide the team into the future!”

Kyle Confer, Ballred Sports, LLC, COO added, "We at Ballred LLC are confident in the future of the Hushpuppies with Nic and Kaylin at the helm. Their successful business background coupled with their passion for sports and the community should excite fans across the Triad. I'm confident that as team owners, the Sturdifens will continue to build on the success of the organization and will take the team to new heights!"
