Lake Norman HarborHippos to Host 2026 ONSL All-Star Game

LAKE NORMAN, NC — The Old North State League (ONSL) is proud to announce that the 2026 ONSL All-Star Game will be hosted by the Lake Norman HarborHippos, marking a major milestone for the young franchise and a celebration of the league’s continued growth across North Carolina.

In just their second season, the HarborHippos have quickly established themselves as one of the league’s most community-driven organizations, making them a natural fit to host one of the ONSL’s premier events.

Owner Mike Viruso emphasized the significance of the moment, saying, “The HarborHippos were built on a calling — Kris and I felt led to create something that would genuinely serve this community. Being awarded the All-Star Game in just our second year of existence is validation that we’re on the right path.” He added that Lake Norman has embraced the team in a tremendous way, and hosting the event is an opportunity to “bring the entire Old North State League to their backyard and show them everything this league is about.”

The 2026 All-Star festivities will go far beyond the game itself, featuring a full day of entertainment designed to engage fans of all ages. The HarborHippos are planning a celebrity softball game benefiting the Cool Kids Clubhouse, the foundation of Olympic gold medalist Dan Jansen. Viruso explained, “The HarborHippos are a community-first organization — that’s not a tagline, it’s how we operate,” noting that the event will also include a home run derby, appearances from local celebrities, and a complete ballpark takeover. He added, “This is going to be a full day that baseball fans and non-baseball fans alike will not want to miss.”

Beyond the entertainment, the event is expected to have a lasting impact on the Lake Norman community. Reflecting on the team’s early success, Viruso shared, “The feedback we’ve received from fans, players, their families, and town officials has been overwhelming — it’s told us that Lake Norman has been longing for this kind of family-friendly, affordable entertainment.” He also noted that the All-Star Game presents a chance to introduce the HarborHippos to new audiences, adding, “This is just the beginning of Normie Nation. The Hippos are here to stay.”

From a league-wide perspective, bringing the All-Star Game to Lake Norman represents a significant step forward for the ONSL. Commissioner Eric Sibrizzi described the opportunity by saying, “Having our All-Star Game in the Lake Norman community is a tremendous honor for our league,” adding that the area’s deep appreciation for baseball makes it an ideal host. He noted that the event will help the league “connect with passionate fans, highlight a beautiful part of North Carolina, and continue strengthening our footprint across the region.”

The All-Star Game also serves as one of the league’s premier platforms for player exposure and development. Sibrizzi explained, “It gives our top players the opportunity to compete at a high level in front of fans, scouts, and community leaders, while also showcasing our league’s quality of play,” emphasizing that events like this are about “exposure, experience, and celebrating excellence.”

Looking ahead, the ONSL hopes the 2026 event will leave a lasting legacy for both the community and the league. Sibrizzi stated, “Our goal is to leave a lasting, positive impact on both the Lake Norman community and our league,” adding that the vision is to create a “well-organized, community-driven, and memorable” experience that can serve as a model for future All-Star Games.

With elite talent, community engagement, and a full slate of fan-focused events, the 2026 ONSL All-Star Game in Lake Norman is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and impactful moments in league history.
