Hope Mills Rockfish announced as the newest team in the ONSL
RAMSEUR, NORTH CAROLINA - The Fayetteville Chutes were acquired and rebranded by Ballred, LLC. The town of Hope Mills, North Carolina was selected as the new location of this franchise. In the partnership with Hope Mills, Ballred, LLC. has agreed to contribute $100,000 towards renovations to the Hope Mills Recreation Center Park.
A Name The Team Contest allowed citizens of Hope Mills to submit names they thought fit the team best. The top 5 names submitted were the Rockfish, Millers, Lake Monsters, Harvesters, and High Landers- all with their own historical or geographical backgrounds related to Hope Mills.
The winner of the contest was the ‘Hope Mills Rockfish’. The Rockfish are significant to the area because Rockfish is the name of the creek that runs through Hope Mills and feeds Hope Mills Lake. They also play on Rockfish Road.
Kyle Confer, part-owner of Ballred, LLC., commented on the reason Hope Mills was chosen as the new team location. "Hope Mills offers a close-knit, involved community with leadership that was eager to support a new collegiate team. They also have one of the largest youth participation rates in baseball and softball in the state. We are excited about the partnership that we have with Hope Mills and look forward to the first pitch next summer."
