6/30 - 7/6 ONSL Weekly Player Awards

On Monday, the Old North State League announced the player and pitcher of the week for the week of June 30th through July 6th. 


Player of the Week - Rylan Evans (Edenton Steamers/Pacific University)

Evans was awarded the player of the week honors for his offensive efforts the past week. The infielder led the Tidewater ball club to an undefeated week, which has seen them rise to the top of the division standings. The senior batted .583 with seven hits, driving in ten runs. On June 30th against non-league Virginia Beach Valor, Evans smashed a grand slam over the left field fence. On the season, Evans is hitting .346 with a .486 on-base percentage and slugging .538.

Pitcher of the Week - Zach Gaydos (Pineville Porcupines/Catawba College)

Gaydos earned pitcher of the week honors courtesy of his seven-inning outing against the Randolph Ropin’ Roosters on Thursday, July 3rd. In the mountain division showdown, the right-handed pitcher punched out 16 batters, only allowing two hits and one run. The ace had a 74% strike percentage as he only allowed four baserunners through his time on the bump. Gaydos started out the game with four straight strikeouts to set the tempo. On the season, Gaydos has only allowed two runs through 19 innings pitched. He is the team leader in strikeouts with 31.
