6/22 - 6/29 ONSL Weekly Player Awards

On Monday, the Old North State League announced the player of the week awards for the week of June 22nd through June 29th.


Player of the Week - Charlie Muñiz (Sandhills Bogeys/University of the Cumberlands)

Sandhills Bogey’s Muniz earns player of the week honors for his offensive efforts the past week. The catcher reigning from the NAIA University of the Cumberlands went three for five at the plate. The ONSL All-Star touched them all twice, driving in six teammates. The Bogey holds the all-time college record for home runs hit. On the season, he is hitting .310 with a .473 on-base percentage and a .714 slugging percentage. Muñiz has five home runs on the season with 18 RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week - Tristan Stephenson (Tarboro Rivr Bandits/Charleston Southern)

Stephenson toed the bump for the River Bandits against the Raleigh Red Oaks on June 24th. The sophomore threw a five-inning shutout in which he struck out five batters and earned the win. He allowed only three base runners in his appearance as he led the Tidewater team to victory over the Piedmont challengers. The right-handed pitcher hails from Charleston Southern, a Division l program in the Big South conference.
