6/16 - 6/22 ONSL Weekly Player Awards

On Monday June 23rd, the Old North State League announced their player and pitcher of the week awards for the week of June 16th through June 22nd. 


Player of the Week - Aaron Bock (Wake Forest Fungo/Transfer Portal) 

Bock went 11 for 25 at the plate over the week. The junior reigning from Division III Johns Hopkins had a slash line of .440 / .462 / .920 for the Piedmont division challengers. The utility fielder had seven extra-base hits, including two home runs. He drove in 9 teammates during the stretch. On the season, he is leading the team in batting average, OPS, and slugging. He led the Fungo to an 8-4 win over the High Point Hushpuppies on Friday, going 3 for 4 at the plate, driving in two runs. 


Pitcher of the Week - Bryce Hubbard (Sandhills Bogeys/University of North Georgia)

Hubbard toed the rubber for the Bogeys twice during the week, recording 16 punchouts and earning a win. He led the bogeys to a 19-6 win over the coastal divisional leaders, Jacksonville Ospreys, as he threw six innings, fanning ten batters. In his other outing last Tuesday, the sophomore threw 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk as he punched out six batters. The right-handed pitcher leads the Bogeys in strikeouts, with opposing batters averaging .261 against him.

The Old North State League continues with more baseball this week. The All-Star Game and Home Run Derby will be located in Jacksonville, NC, at Jack Amyette Park, hosted by the Jacksonville Ospreys next Saturday, June 29th.
